Forms and Function
- Aluminum hydroxide and its derivatives can be found in a multitude of cosmetics.
- Alumina functions as an abrasive, absorbent, anticaking agent, bulking agent, and opacifying agent. Aluminum hydroxide functions as a buffering agent, corrosion inhibitor, and pH adjuster.
- Several studies have indicated that Alumina and Aluminum hydroxide is not readily absorbed by the skin.[1]
