Forms and Function

• Aluminum hydroxide and its derivatives can be found in a multitude of cosmetics. 
• Alumina functions as an abrasive, absorbent, anticaking agent, bulking agent, and opacifying agent. Aluminum hydroxide functions as a buffering agent, corrosion inhibitor, and pH adjuster.
• Several studies have indicated that Alumina and Aluminum hydroxide is not readily absorbed by the skin.^[1]
